Canning
Abstract: Richard Canning, Richard Canning, one of the early electronic data processing pioneers, recounts his personal background, education and Army Air Corps experience. He describes his initial work at Globe Wireless and IBM and his family's decision to move to California where he then became interested in job shop scheduling and simulation modeling of factories. He joined with Roger Sisson to form Canning, Sisson and Associates in 1954 and reviews a few of their consulting assignments before they closed the company and went separate business paths. He talks about the EDP Analyzer which was his principal business activity over the next 23 years and the Data Processing Digest which he and Roger started and was continued by for many years by Margaret Milligan. He talks briefly about some of his professional activities in the computing industry.
