Companies of the Early Computer Software and Services Industry

In this section we identify a few of the thousands of computer software and services companies that were founded in the 1950s, 1960s 1970s and 1980s.  We are adding new information about the companies on the list and adding more companies to the list all the time, so if you have information should be included please send us an email and tell us about it.

Our current focus is on those companies that served the mainframe, minicomputer, and small business systems market and that were founded before 1990. We believe that the history of these companies is the most vulnerable to loss since extensive consolidation in the industry resulted in the demise of so many of the pioneering companies.
